Skyteam is the second alliance in Barcelona - El Prat Airport regarding the market share of intercontinental operations. Currently, 25% of passengers flying long distance from Barcelona travel with member companies of this alliance.
Given the strategic importance of this fact and to raise awareness of the growth potential of this segment in Barcelona, representatives of the Barcelona Air Route Development Committee held a meeting in Madrid yesterday with top sales executives from the airlines in the SkyTeam Alliance.
The event was held at Blanquerna Cultural Centre and was attended by Mr. Damià Calvet, Secretary of Planning and Transport of the Generalitat of Catalonia – Catalonia Government - and the President of BARDC, Mr. Mauro Oretti, SkyTeam Vice President of Sales and Marketing and Mr. Wisbrun Michael, Managing Director of the alliance as well as the airlines heads of sales of the group and representatives of four member institutions of the Committee, among others.
The BARDC considers holding such meetings are key in order to inform the airlines of the business opportunities offered by Barcelona first-hand and to position Barcelona Airport as an interesting option for the operation of long haul flights.
