Barcelona Airport welcomes the Routes Europe Award for the best marketing in the Mediterranean and southern Europe

Barcelona Airport has welcomed the Routes Europe Awards 2011 for the best airport marketing of the Mediterranean and southern Europe, becoming the first airport in the Aena network of holding this award.

The efforts to encourage airlines to add routes and intercontinental traffic growth during the first three months of 2011 - Barcelona Airport has transported 6.6 million passengers in the first quarter of 2011, 15.5% more than the same period of 2010 - were the reasons most valued by the jury when presenting the award.

Also, the vice president of Europe Routes, Nigel Mayes, has highlighted the Barcelona Air Routes Development Committee as an "example of partnership between the airports, tourism authorities and local governments ".

The Committee members appreciate the mention of the efforts and undertake to maintain the level of work and institutional collaboration to improve long-distance connections from Barcelona Airport.
