Intercontinental flights

The work carried out by the BARDC since 2005 has help to attract new companies to the Barcelona Airport and it has increased the number of intercontinental flights.

This section highlights the international flights (outside the EU and Schengen area) and especially the intercontinental flights from the Barcelona Airport; routes that have a special importance in the BARDC activity.

The 2012-2013 winter season witnessed the consolidation of routes, as well as the opening of new destinations on the map of Barcelona routes Barcelona.


North America

This winter 2012-2013 three airlines from the United States operated to two different destinations.

Delta Airlines: flies to New York and Atlanta five times per week.

United Airlines: flies to Newark (New York) with four weekly frequencies.

American Airlines: operates six flights per week between Barcelona and New York and this season has increased its frequencies to Miami operating seven flights per week.

South America

Two South American and one Asian companies directly unite Barcelona with this continent on a weekly basis:

Aerolíneas Argentinas: operates five weekly flights between Barcelona and Buenos Aires.

Avianca: the Colombian airline operates four weekly flights to Bogotá, and connections to the rest of the country and other parts of the Andes region.

Singapore Airlines: operates three times per week Barcelona and Sao Paulo.

Africa and Mediterranean

This geographical area operates eight airlines to nine diferent destinations. This season there is a new airline that operates for first time in Barcelona.

Egyptair: the Egyptian company offers seven weekly flights to El Cairo.

Air Algerie: it is possible to fly between Barcelona and Algiers twelve times per week thanks to this company and two to Oran.

Royal Air Maroc: operates ten flights per week to Casablanca and three to Tangiers.

Tunis Air: this company also offers flights between Barcelona and Tunis, four times per week.

Vueling: offers four flights with Marrakech and for first time also to Banjul two times per week.

Air Arabia Maroc: operates between Barcelona and Casablanca and Nador two times per week to each destination and one time per week to Tangiers.

• Jet Air Fly: operates one flights to Nador and two to Tangiers.

• Gambia Bird: this company is the first time that operates to Barcelona, offering one flight per week to Banjul.

Asia and Middle East

Barcelona maintains four direct passenger routes to Asia.

Singapore Airlines: this international airline flies daily between Barcelona and Singapore. The flight began with three weekly flights, gradually increasing the offer to the current daily flight.

Pakistan International Airlines: in March 2009 the company opened direct flights from Barcelona to Pakistan. PIA operates a weekly flight to Lahore and another to Islamabad. The flight from Lahore also connects Barcelona to Karachi by a technical stop twice a week. 

El Al: Israeli flag carrier has consolidated its route between Barcelona and Tel Aviv, bringing its weekly flights on a total of six weekly frequencies.

Arkia Airlines: offers two frequencies to Tel Aviv.

Royal Jordanian: the flag carrier of Jordan offers two flights between Barcelona and Amman.

Qatar Airways: this company starts its flights in June 2010 and connects Barcelona with Doha. Nowadays it operates ten weekly frequencies.

Vueling: links Barcelona and Tel Aviv three times per week this season.

Emirates: for first time this company operates a weekly flight between Dubai and Barcelona.
