British Airways increases its cargo capacity in Barcelona up to 90%

On the first of April, British Airways World Cargo (BAWC) started eight new weekly cargo flights between Barcelona and the United Kingdom. This clear bet by the company for boosting their air services in the Catalan airport has increased the weekly cargo capacity of B AWC around 90% in El Prat airport.

The new flights operate mainly in three routes: First, the air link between El Prat and the East Midlands airport operates four weekly flights, from Tuesday to Friday. This flight is operated by a B757-F aircraft. Secondly, there is a Barcelona – Heathrow connection that operates a flight three times per week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This route also operates a B757-F. Both routes have a capacity of 20.000 kg per flight. Third, and more significant than the previous ones, there is a new triangular air link connecting London Luton, Barcelona, Madrid and London Luton again. This flight operates each Saturday with an Airbus 300-F with a total cargo capacity of up to 40.000 kg.

Those operations have an important strategic side, since they relate two really important European markets (the centre of England and Barcelona), creating new synergies in air cargo transport for both intraeuropean and international destinations.
