Jade Cargo, the Asian cargo company invested by Lufthansa Cargo, has announced that will increase her flights between Barcelona and Shenzhen from two to five weekly flights. This increase will be done in two phases: first, one frequency will be added (Monday, Thursday, and Saturday) and then two more will be added, reaching a total of five frequencies from June onwards.
The flights will be operated by B747-400ERF planes, with an overall capacity of 110 tons per flight. Jade/Lufthansa aims to concentrate all the air cargo shipments of the Spanish market in these flights from Barcelona, with air trucks the airports of Madrid, Bilbao, Valencia and Alicante with the air link that operates from El Prat.
This growth strategy reinforces the cargo air links between El Prat and China from the five weekly flights it had at the turn of the year into the eight weekly flights that it will have in the immediate future: five flights to Shenzhen operated by Jade Cargo/Lufthansa and three flights operated between Hong Kong and Barcelona by Cargolux. This situation highlights the strength of the air cargo business between Barcelona and the Asian continent, a market that has not stopped growing in the past years.
