Plan's scope

Great international hub

Barcelona Airport is carrying out one of the most ambitious airport expansion plans in Europe, the Barcelona Plan (el Pla Barcelona) whose main aim is to turn Barcelona Airport into a great international hub.

Within the Plan's scope, the following measures stand out:

  • Third runway in operation.
  • New terminal from 2009 onwards, which will virtually double the airport's capacity.
  • New satellite terminal (a €500 million investment) to yet again increase the airport's capacity up to 70 million passengers.
